"Merguez sits in an odd, little deserted plaza with a lot of unused storefront. There's a outdoor seating area that's oddly ornate and majestic next to this humble eatery. You order at the counter and can choose from some appetizers, sandwiches, tagines and more. I go with the chicken bastilla and kefta tagine. The kitchen takes a bit of time but it's totally worth the wait! My tagine consists of meatballs (beef/lamb?) immersed in a dark, crimson and spiced tomato based sauce. Two eggs are baked on top and it's a wonderfully hearty bite. The chicken bastilla is a hexagonal pastry of phyllo dough stuffed with chicken, nuts and drizzled with some sort of syrup-honey. Wow, wow, wow, I haven't had chicken bastilla in a while and this version was great.
Service at Merguez is family-like and friendly, A+ there and with the great portion sizes and prices, you really can't go wrong here. Merguez just feels like the neighborhood cafe run by locals and serving up honest and tasty food. From Morocco! And you can't get much better than that if you're in the hood and hungry..."

"Often I wonder why I don't eat lamb couscous more often...
Very casual atmosphere, seat yourself. Friendly staff. EXCELLENT food."
